Friday Competition
Best Tattoo of the Day Friday (Must be started and finished THAT day) Sign-up at 9:30pm - Judging at 10pm Tattoo of The Day - We are not able to tell when a tattoo has been done, so to preserve the integrity of the contest and in fairness to all, PLEASE follow these guidelines. New artwork will be available at the hotel check-in desk and the Vendor sign- in table at 6pm on Friday night . It is to be photographed by the blank skin before you start either use your own camera or phone or ask at the vendor table -

Saturday’s Competitions Sign-up from 12 noon - 3pm Competitions start at 4pm Awards in the following categories for 1st & 2nd Place (male OR female) Best Portrait - Must have photo to compare. We judge this to look as close to a photo as possible. Best Sleeve - can be arm or leg - must go all the way around. This started out as simply arms, but legs have great work also (we ask that it go completely around to be considered a sleeve). Best Cover-up - must see “Before” picture to see what it is you covered up. Best “Piercing in Tattoo” - We are looking for the tattoo and the piercing to be connected. The piercing must be part of the tattoo (A bull with a ring in it’s nose is an example). NOTE! This is a family show! It has to be something we can show (or the audience will never see it)!

Best Upper Body Male - Chest or back. This started out as “Best Back Piece” But we found so many chest pieces that were as good we renamed the category to mean front or back! Best Upper Body Female - see above Best Individual Male - Must present tattoo alone not in the middle of other work. The key thing to remember... You should present the work alone! Note: Clothing with holes cut to only expose the tattoo has been done or bandages & wraps have covered some surrounding work on other contestants.

Judge’s Choice Trophy - This is an invitational competition. The judges have a coin (Am-Jam logo - same as the trophy tops) they will hand to contestants all throughout the show. This is not confined to the contest area. We will look for this anywhere in the hotel or show! Note If you are asked to take more than one coin it will increase your standing with the judges. Collection Categories What do we look at in a collection category? Does it look like it was a common theme or design? Is it set up in an artful manner? Does it follow the shape of the body, or form a shape on the body? It isn’t the most number of tattoos, but how they are placed in relation to care and planning. And as always we look for quality in the art, are there skips in the design (like a pen running out of ink)? Are the lines even in width and shade? Best Collection Blackwork- Male - 1st Place only Best Collection Blackwork- Female - 1st Place only Best Tattoo of the Day for Saturday (Must be started and finished Saturday - artwork for integrity will be available at 11am at the Hotel front desk and the vendor sign in table ) Sign-up at 9:30pm -Judging at 10pm

I f your tattoo sticks out from the template, it’s large! Lines
– We look for how the lines are set. Is the line smooth, the same
width all along it? It shouldn’t
have thickness at the ends (like drawing on a napkin with a felt tip pen). The line shouldn’t look shaky, but should be smooth.
Shading
– Is it even and subtle? It shouldn’t look scratchy, or clumped up.
Shading should hide in the background (not jump out in front of the
outline)!
